If you’re looking to retire in the outskirts of Tucson, Green Valley is an area that showcases the awe-inspiring natural desert landscape of Arizona. It offers a variety of neighborhoods including family and kid-friendly as well as more retirement-focused areas. From award-winning parks and play areas to outstanding golf courses, you’ll find it all in Green Valley!

Many of the homes within Green Valley also qualify for the Green Valley Recreation (GVR) program. GVR is a non-profit organization which links homeowners to recreation centers throughout the area. Some of the sports included are “racquetball, tennis, swimming, shuffleboard, bocce, billiards, horseshoes, table tennis, pickleball, and volleyball”. There are also countless clubs and groups to get involved in, no matter what your passion is! Our article about GVR provides more information about fees associated with GVR and the benefits it includes.

Vail is an outstanding area just outside of Tucson for family and retiree living. One of the premium communities here is Del Webb at Rancho Del Lago. This neighborhood offers a wide variety of activites, indoor and out, active and idle. Many of these are homed in their 14,000 sq. ft. recreation center or state-of-the-art fitness center.  Del Webb is also home to an 18-hole golf course for you golf-loving retirees!

Oro Valley, a more up-scale area, has over 20 retirement communities including Saddlebrooke. This community is one of the few to feature a completely private golf course, privy only to residents. It also features the RoadRunner Grill, tennis, a library, fitness center, and bingo! Dove Mountain, ranked #1 by the Zagat Survey for U.S. spas and resorts, also prides itself for its wide variety of arts. Just minutes away from museums, theaters, symphony, ballet and opera company, this community is described by the Wall Street Journal as a “mini-mecca of the arts”.
